1． 问： Well, Im allowed to go to the movies with friends on Friday nights. “在夜间”是at night，为何此处用on不用at？（湖北省武汉市 黄磊）

答：在英语中泛指“在夜间”，若没具体到某天，常用at night。例如：He often plays computer games at night because he is very busy in the day time. (他常在夜晚玩电子游戏，因为他白天很忙。)但若是“具体到某天”的夜晚，则要用介词on。例如：

Her aunt came back onthe night ofJuly 2nd. 她阿姨是在7月2日晚上回来的。

2．问：What kind of clothes do they want to wear?（他们想穿什么衣服？）若what改为which，意思是否相同？（ 湖南省长沙市 肖慧萍）

答：意思是不相同的。what和which都是疑问代词，前者通常用于没有选择范围或范围较大的场合，意为“什么”，后者通常用于“可供选择的东西是有限制的”，意为“哪一个”。试比较：

What will you have for breakfast? 早餐你想吃点什么？（没有选择范围）

What is the largest animal in the world?世界上什么动物最大？（这一范围较大）

Which is the best season of the year? 一年中哪一个季节最好？（这一范围较小）

Which will you have, tea or coffee?你要喝些什么，茶还是咖啡？（在特定的范围内）

3． 问：有这么一道题如下：

—Jane, your backpack is worn out.

—Well, Im going to buy a new ______ next Sunday.

A. it B. this C. that D. one

答案应该选哪个？为什么？（浙江温州叶玲序） 答：应该选D。one用作代词时用来代替前面提到过的单数可数名词。根据句意：

——简，你的书包坏了。

——是的，下星期天我打算买一个新的。 如果名词在前边已经出现过一次，再次出现的时候为了避免重复就用one来代替，复数用ones代替。

4． 问：plenty of 表示“许多”时与a lot of, much, many 有什么区别？（山东省青岛市 小山）

答：（1）plenty of, a lot of 后可接可数或不可数名词，而much 只可修饰不可数名词，many 只可修饰可数名词。试比较：

There are plenty of / a lot of books on the desk. 桌上有许多书。

You donthave many apples. 你没有许多苹果。

There isnt much rice in the bowl.碗里没有多少米饭。

（2） plenty of, a lot of通常用于肯定句中；否定句及疑问句中通常用many, much或enough。例如：

There is not much time. 没有多少时间。

She has a lot of books; but she doesnt have many bookshelves. 她有许多书，但没有多少书架。 (本期解答：远 航)
