Not long ago, it was reported that half white-collar workers in Chongqing have hopped from job to job within three years. Look at me. I have not even experienced any job change once.

Working people may have, more or less, thought about job-hopping? Whether it is for better development, higher income, or for lovers, families, etc. But before you change jobs, have you thought about how to resign?

There is such a person who has prepared to resign for over a decade. The first half of his career has almost been consumed on this problem. In his forties, he finally resigned and wrote a book named Ah! This Is How I Can Quit.

Embarking on A Tangled Journey

He is a Japanese. In order to change his fate, a friend suggested that he change his pen name into Abe Yaro. That's right, we are talking about the author of The Late Night Eatery.

Mr. Abe has enjoyed comics since elementary school. In middle school, he published comic works on his hometown newspapers. In high school, he established a comics club and even applied for Waseda University just to join its comic research club.

A man who loves comics so much did not engage in comics after graduation. Instead, he worked as a director in an advertising company. Since then, he has embarked on a tangled journey of resignation or not.

At the age of 27, after working for more than five years as an advertising director, Abe Yaro decided to restart. At the age of 36, he first participated in a comic competition organized by a publisher. He confidently planned to resign after winning and begin to be a cartoonist and so on. However, his name did not appear on the final list.

Four years later, in November 2003, Abe Yaro finally won a big award with Yamamoto Yamaguchi Store. In March 2004, he resigned with a bonus of 1 million yen, when he was 41 years old.

Over the next year or so, he published only a few works without much influence. He lived on savings until he drew The Late Night Eatery. One of the by-products of his fame is a collection of columns that he had previously wrote for a newspaper and an interview by other comic book workers. The title is Ah! This Is How I Can Resign.

Love Is the Top Priority

Abe Yaro's resignation can be considered successful compared to those who just “hop” from one place to another. To put it more exaggeratedly, it is a matter of long-time consideration and hardships to accomplish his ambition. The author revealed some of his resignation experience in the book, which could be useful to people who are hesitating in the workplace.

First one, enthusiasm.

This is the first priority for resignation that the whole book intends to tell. Many people say they resign for love, but most of their enthusiasm does not last. Unfortunately, their heads are carried away by some sudden enthusiasm, and when the passion dissipates, they feel sad and disappointed.

So, when you say that you resign for your passion or dreams, please think about whether you have been sweating and working hard for your passion like Abe Yaro, who started to draw comics in the sixth grade of primary school, and insisted on doing it even when he was 41.

Secondly, efforts.

To upgrade your hobbies into expertise requires, you need not only enthusiasm, but also persistent efforts and commitment. Though this sounds no more than a platitude, it is truth. Abe Yaro's debut work, Yamamoto Yamaguchi Store, is a comic book of 32 pages. He had changed as many as five times, and even one picture has been repeatedly modified. At the age of 36, he designed a rabbit image named "Kangkang". That year, he practiced more than 120 drafts, over 2,400 rabbits. What would be the difference between the first rabbit and the last one? What did he gain from all these drawings? Maybe only the one who had tried it could understand.

Resignation Is Not Escaping from the Moment

Of course, you need some conditions for resignation, such as "capital". The book also mentions such “experience”as Zhang Ailing said, “to be famous as early as possible”and “do not have wife or children”. It is just the selfmockery of Abe Yaro, and our readers can laugh at it.

There is a sentence on the book cover that goes like this:"Be sure to resign in a proper way. Resignation is never escape from the present, but the choice for the future." With love and hard work, I think it is not difficult to resign. Of course, with these two traits, it would be just good enough not to resign.

The book also contains the author's column works and a lengthy interview, which reads like a dual-pot hotpot with its own flavor and achievements. The lengthy interview is full of useful advice like spicy soup. The 29 column works were entitled The First, The Second and The Third... The author cherished his childhood or memories of friends and relatives. The language in the book is gentle and naturally restrained like light soup.

For example, in The 14th, he recalled that his father loved bustling life and joking, and he even went out wearing ill- fitting shorts. “Now I feel it's totally fine for me to take my father anywhere, but it's too late." And this is so sad.
