CSSC Makes a Good Start

In 2024, member units of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation(CSSC), with the momentum that the beginning is a decisive battle and the start is a sprint, have actively implemented the concept of "winning in three aspects", constantly improved the value creation ability, and striven to "get off to a good start" and run the first race of the Year.

Deliver new ships one after another

In January, CSSC Jiangnan Shipbuilding delivered 93,000 m3 VLGC, 15,000 TEU dualfuel container ships, 15,500 TEU container ship and 7,600CEU LNG dual-fuel ocean-going PCTC. Among them, 93,000 m3 VLGC is the fourth generation of VLGC quality ship type(Panda 93P) independently developed and designed by the company. The 15,000 TEU dual fuel container ship has an overall length of 366 m, a molded width of 51 m, service speed of 22 knots, and GTT Mark ⅢLNG containment system, which has the characteristics of large container capacity, advanced technology, energy saving and environmental friendliness.7600CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC is the first LNG dual-fuel ro/ro project invested by a Chinese shipowner and with the largest carrying capacity in the global active service.

In 2024, CSSC Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has delivered the 7000 TEU container ship "Cetus" and the 114,000-ton Aframax product tanker“Eritis", and successfully completed the navigation maintenance mission of the first large domestic cruise ship"Adora Magic City". The “Cetus”is the first ship delivered in the New Year, and the “Eritis” is the last of 114,000-ton Aframax product tanker series built by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for ENESEL, Greece. In order to ensure the successful completion of the maiden voyage of "Adora Magic City", the Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding cruise team cooperated with the Adora Cruise team to guarantee navigation three times from December 23, 2023 to January 7, 2024,and finally successfully completed the navigation guarantee mission.

On January 4, the 16,000 TEU container ship No.6 built by CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding in collaboration with CSTC was christened and delivered for MSC Mediterranean Shipping, 72 days ahead of the contract period. The ship has an overall length of about 366 m, a molded breadth of 51 m, a molded depth of 30.2 m, a design draft of 14.5 m, a scantling draft of 17 m, capable of carrying 16,520 TEUs and 1,800 reefer containers. The ship has LNGREADY, strengthening fire fighting,one-person driving and other class symbols, to maximize the green energy saving, environmental friendliness and safety and economy of operation.

On January 11, two 210,000-DWT bulk carriers built by CSSC Beihai Shipbuilding in collaboration with CSTC for CMB Belgium were christened. Both vessels adopt the design of a new generation 210,000-DWT bulk carrier of the Shipbuilding Design and Research Center of Beihai Shipbuilding. The EEDI is 34.1%below the baseline value, meeting the requirements of the third stage and having the characteristics of green energy saving, large carrying capacity and high intelligence.

On January 12, the 50,000-ton methanol dual-fuel powered tanker "STENA PROGRESSIVE",built by CSSC Guangzhou Shipyard International for PROMAN STENA,was completed and delivered. This marks the successful conclusion of China's first 6 methanol dual-fuel powered tankers project. This ship is equipped with the world's first methanol dual fuel drive system, which can be driven by four fuel modes: fuel oil, fuel oil hydrate, methanol and methanol hydrate. This is the first application of a hydrate fuel scheme in the ship sector, which can control the combustion state to reduce exhaust emissions and meet the IMO Tier Ⅲemission requirements.

CSSC Chengxi has successively realized the delivery, launching,lay-down and other milestones. On January 2, CSSC Chengxi delivered the third 63,500-ton series bulk carrier,"OCEAN DILIGENCE", built for Huaxia Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. On January 12, CSSC Chengxi successfully completed the empty ship weighing test of the fourth 63,500-DWT bulk carrier At present, the ship has entered the preparation stage for the main engine startup, and the project team is going all out to sprint for the ship sea trial milestone. On January 15, the company laid down an 82,600 DWT bulk carrier for Greek owner TMS Group.

New orders keep coming in

Since the beginning of this year, CSTC has intensified its market development efforts, seized the development opportunities, grasped the key needs of customers, and successfully undertaken a number of projects with CSSC enterprises.

At the beginning of the New Year,CSSC signed the construction contract of three 210,000-DWT LNG dual fuel power bulk carriers with the global shipping giant Mitsui OSK Lines, and signed the construction contract of four 210,000 ton ammonia fuel dual fuel / ammonia fuel ready bulk carriers with Singapore East Pacific Shipping Company. Since 2023, Eastern Pacific Shipping has ordered 10 such ships from Beihai Shipbuilding. The two bulk carriers are independently developed and designed by the Shipbuilding Design and Research Center under Beihai Shipbuilding.

CSTC also signed a contract in collaboration with Jiangnan Shipbuilding to build six 13000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships with Ocean Network Express ("ONE").The 13000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship signed this time is a KUN series ship type independently developed and designed by Jiangnan Shipbuilding, with fully independent intellectual property rights. The performance indicators of this ship have reached the international advanced level, with the advantages of high efficiency, energy saving, green environmental protection, in line with the strategic planning of carbon emission reduction of the customer fleet.This signing is the first time ONE has placed an order in the Chinese mainland and the first direct cooperation with CSSC. This marks the full coverage of the cooperation between CSSC and the global large liner companies, which fully reflects the brand awareness and influence of CSSC.

The option order for two 1250 TEU methanol dual-fuel power open container ships in CSSC Huangpu Wenchong officially took effect. In September 2023, Global shipping giant Japan Corporation Merchant Marine Mitsui Wenchong in collaboration with CSTC signed a contract to build 2+2 methanol dual-fuel power open container ships. The two ships in effect this time are the option ships in this order. Huangpu Wenchong currently holds orders of 45 feeder container ships, with the world's leading market share.

New missions continue

The first large domestically manufactured cruise ship, "Adora Magic City", launched its first commercial voyage on New Year's Day in 2024, executing the Shanghai-Jeju-Nagasaki-Fukuoka-Shanghai route. On January 7, "Adora Magic City" smoothly returned to Shanghai Wusongkou international cruise port,successfully completing the commercial maiden voyage mission. The safey and smooth voyage and passengers’good experience marks the CSSC Adora Cruise has become China's first international cruise company able to simultaneously operate several large cruises, also marks the through-line of the complete industrial chain of China's cruise industry from design and construction to independent operation across the board, paving the way for China's cruise industry’s sustainable high quality development.

CSSC Hudong Zhonghua has successively completed sea trial,docking, liquid cargo compartment sealing and other milestones to ensure a "good start" for production in the New Year. CSSC Oasis has engaged in busy production, rushed through orders and expanded sales at full steam, and striving for a new year "good start"with hard work. The production task of CSSC Oasis in the first quarter of this year is very full, the production and output of main products increase by 100%year on year, and individual products increase by more than 300%. In January,CSSC Power’s civil power business is expected to complete more than 15% of the annual undertaking target, exceeding the monthly undertaking plan; all production tasks are stable and orderly, and the completion rate of main engines and units is expected to account for 8.4% of the annual plan. At the same time, the key production tasks are progressing smoothly.

In January, The CSSC 702 Institute has focused on scientific and technological innovation, and around the deep-sea field, completed China's first deep-sea polymetallic sulfide mining test vehicle Lianyungang sea shallow sea test, fully verifying the safety and reliability of deepsea heavy-haul mining equipment.They have supported domestic large cruise ships, aiming vibration and noise control of domestic cruise ships,conducted noise test and analysis of 62 test points during the trial operation voyage, providing strong support for the formation of the independent design ability of cruise ship vibration reduction and noise reduction.Centering on the construction of the cave-pool-lake-sea test technology system, the first large ice model tank in China has completed the foundation pit pouring, and the AI research environment of 100-billion-level digital model computing power has been greatly improved.

The Lingshui 25-1 underwater security system independently developed by the CSSC 750th Test Site has successfully been accepted and delivered on the lake. This is the first security system built simultaneously with the oil production platform in China, which will serve the second phase of the "Deep Sea No.1" project and further improve the autonomous and controllable level of the underwater production system technology in China's oil and gas industry.
